We minimised the complexity of maintaining our Unmanned Aerial Vehicles by reducing the number of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) to an absolute minimum.
With an average LRU count per UAV of 9 (yes that’s right just 9 line replaceable parts), we have:

As  UAV development matures, there is a convergence of expectations and abilities of UAV’s and conventional aircraft.
With UAV’s becoming larger, and in many cases more capable and more expensive than conventional aircraft, the line that differentiates a UAV and a conventional aircraft is fading.

Radio horizon

The distance that you can see to the horizon is a function of your altitude, the Earth’s radius, and the height or altitude of your target.

This basic concept is the single reason that the persistent tethered UAV exists. From the elevated position of a UAV(T), both visual and radio horizon are dramatically increased.

You can literally see further, hear further, measure further, point further, and talk further.

With power to maintain the UAV(T) generated on the ground, the aircraft has the ability to remain aloft almost indefinitely, within maintenance intervals.

Let’s add a ship. The tether is attached to a ship that has mobility.

So now we have a mobile elevated position from which to look, listen, talk, measure, and even point at distant objects.

This elevated platform is autonomous from take-off to landing, lifts a large payload, and requires very little maintenance.

Persistent UAV(T) platforms give any type of vessel an eagle eye perspective that you can rely on.
